There's Always That Judging Eye

So for one of my projects I've been looking into the concept of 'The Ideal Woman'. While researching I found a professional photographer; Haley Morris-Cafiero. After taking a self-portrait in public Morris-Cafiero noticed that she had people staring at her, to most people that would upset or put off someone on their body image but for Morris-Cafiero it did the exact opposite. She was more intrigued and interested on the idea that she was quickly judged. So she made a set of photos based solely on the concept of her being judged in public.

I found the results of the images rather shocking, isn't it sad that nowadays it's just become the norm to look and judge other people. I've always found it rather frustrating when I see people snigger and stare at others just because they don't fit into the idea of the 'Ideal or Perfect' person.

Below is the link to Haley's website to check out the photos

Question for today: What do you think about people looking down on others with a judging eye??

My Photography Wish-List

So in the spirit of Christmas coming up I thought it would be fun to make a little photography based wish-list. Because I'm only just starting out there are a couple things that I either don't have or are rather out-dated and need replacing.

Christmas wish-list:
- A new tripod
- Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro Nikon-f (Lens)
- Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D (Lens)
- Colour filters for my lens
- Working Photoshop for Windows 8
- Softbox lighting
- Background stand

I know I won't get them all if any, but a girl can dream. So does anyone have a Christmas wish-list written out just yet?? Let me know in the comments below.

Could this be a start of a new adventure??

So I am currently looking into going on a trip next February to New York. This, for me is a very exciting photography opportunity. It's been one of my life long dreams (Or at least very close to the top of my long list) to venture out into the states, to experience the big city and the lively environment that comes with it. I'm extremely excited for all the potential photos that could be taken, I am considering taking a couple tourist style photos as well as documentary and differently going to be taking some landscape shots!! This could be an interesting adventure and I can wait to share this experience with you (digitally of course)

Expanding my knowledge

So today I did some practice work on Photoshop, I learnt how to make text look like it's actually written on textured photos e.g. brick walls. This would be the photo I worked on today, it was quick and easy to do. This is a skill that a year ago I would have never even imagine being able to understand yet I realised that it is so quick and simple to do.
